JOB RESPONSIBILITY

  • Responsible for Inspection of material received at site
    • Inspection & verifications of all steel structures being used for construction
    • Inspection of Tracker material
    • Inspection of 22kV switchgear structures
    • Inspection of string monitoring box mounting structure
    • Inspection & verification of civil materials
    • Inspection & verification of all construction setup and plant equipment’s
  • Responsible for Monitoring & Control of Civil Constructions in the entire plant covering the following activities:
    • Construction of labour colony/accommodation inside the plant premises
    • Planning and Construction of laydown area required for the plant
    • Construction of Boundary fencing for the entire plant
    • Grading & Levelling of the land for single axis tracking system
    • Construction of pile foundation for module mounting structure (Tracker)
    • Erection of Single axis tracking system
    • Construction of Foundations for Inverter stations
    • Construction of Foundation for 22kV MV station
    • Construction of Foundation for SCBs
    • Construction of Main control room (Office Building)
    • Construction of Plant Internal Roads
    • Planning & Construction of Plant Approach Road
    • Construction of cable trench for DC, LT, HT & Communication network
    • Construction of Storm Water drainage system inside and outside the plant
    • Construction of Main Gate & other plant utilities for the plant
    • Construction of security cabins for the facility
    • Any other civil constructions required for plant construction
    • Validation for Setting up the lab for testing of civil construction activities from time to time
  • Responsible for preparation of daily work schedule and assigning the jobs to the civil team of EPC contractor with jobwise distribution.
  • Responsible for Planning, Scheduling, Tracking, Providing the direction and support to all the EPC contractor and their sub-contractors for execution of civil work smoothly and timely.
  • Responsible for managing a team of Civil engineers from EPC company and their subcontractors and ensuring the successful deliverables of assigned target.
  • Responsible for forecasting of Resource requirements for the planned and assigned work.
  • Responsible to Analyze and assess the risk factors involved during the execution of work and report the same to the project manager.
  • Responsible to Constantly Monitor and Report the work progress to the project manager.
  • Responsible for Quality of construction and workmanship from all the contractors.
  • Responsible to prepare a daily report on the work progress and plan for next day schedule
  • Responsible for House-keeping of the project site in coordination with the EPC contractor
  • Responsible for managing the resource and obligations for ED and local community obligation requirement.
  • Responsible for monitoring the construction of civil foundation and other civil construction activities in 132/22kV Utility substation and ESKOM switching station
  • Responsible for monitoring and control of waste management for the plant

ACCOUNTABILITY & WEIGHTAGE

  • Resource planning & Forecasting in coordination with the EPC contractor for complete civil construction inside the PV plant, 132/22kV Utility substation and ESKOM substation.
  • Ensure quality of construction and workmanship
  • Meet project timeline as per set targets
  • Successful construction of the project as per the EPC contract deadline
  • Meeting the Safety standards & Safety Manhours
  • Monitoring & Control of Waste Management

  • Construction Phase
    • Meeting the contract COD timelines of the project
    • Meeting Zero defect Quality workmanship
    • Meeting the Zero accident and Safe Man Hours

Profile & Eligible Criteria

  • Bachelor in Civil Engineering in Electrical & Electronics/Electronics & Communication/Power Electronics Engg.
  • Experience: 6-7 years’ Experience in Execution of Large Scale MW Solar PV Projects/Conventional Power plants/Electrical/EHV/Transmission & Distribution Projects with core are in civil construction. Preference will be given for candidates who have experience in civil construction in setting up of solar PV power plant projects.
  • Should have good oral & written communication skills in English and Afrikaans with sound knowledge on preparation of project reports, schedules, site Test reports, QA plans, FAT documentation, Performance test & procedures and HOTO (Handing Over and Taking Over) documents.
  • Should have strong leadership skills, good exposure & responsibility to lead a team of site civil engineers, EPC contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Should have good computer skills with well literate in MS Office, AutoCAD & Project tools like MS Project.
  • Should good working knowledge in understanding the electrical, mechanical and civil drawings
  • Should have good hands-on experience with proven track record in implementing civil construction for solar Utility scale projects with construction of civil foundations for electrical equipment’s and control room. The experience in construction of Utility power plant projects or captive power projects involving EHV substation/Thermal Power plants, etc., will also be considered.
  • Should have a good knowledge in preparation of User Manual, O&M Manual for projects and other Engineering documentation for post & pre-Execution phase.
  • Should have good exposure on Testing of civil construction work with sound knowledge on usage of testing tools & equipment’s used for civil work testing.
  • Should have good exposure to Health & Safety work practices in execution of the project and implementing the same at the site with proper instructions to all EPC contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Should be able to handle the geographically spread out project.
  • Should have sound knowledge on local compliance required for the project during construction.
